Compassionate, structured care for Traumatic Brain Injury survivors and seniors in a residential home setting
A Mother Theresa Care specializes in Senior Care and in Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI) Care providing structured routines, safety, and compassionate behavioral support in a residential care home setting. We incorporate social activities, self-help skills training, and adaptive skills training as well as encourage healthy daily habits as part of the routine to promote growth and overall well-being.
Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI) in older adults can affect memory, attention, mood, judgment, and behavior. Adults living with TBI may experience confusion, difficulty with daily tasks, emotional changes, or increased safety risks. Aging can intensify the long-term effects of a previous brain injury, making consistent routines, supervision, and a calm environment essential for overall well-being. Persons with TBI may have cognitive issues such as short term memory loss and sometimes have symptoms of hallucinations.
Being in a home that understands TBI and the unique needs of a TBI survivor is vital for recovery and ongoing healing and re-learning some basic skills that the individual lost because of the acquired Traumatic Brain Injury. Understanding the challenges that come with TBI is vital for the TBI survivor to adapt to the new home environment, to adapt to the changes in their body and memory challenges, adapting to needing help because most survivors were totally independent before their acquired TBI.
Healing, recovery, progress, stability, and overall wellbeing takes a knowledgeable team who understands TBI and a care team who is willing to get to know the unique needs of each person and deliver personalized care with compassion, understanding, and patience.
We incorporate TBI rehabilitation programs that would be beneficial to the individual\u2019s unique needs and assist them to the program and during the program.
Assist in meeting measurable, reachable goals (e.g., becoming more social, regaining physical strength, improving cognitive abilities, improving speech)
We coordinate with local TBI programs, healthcare providers, and community resources to support therapy services, rehabilitation goals, and continuity of care when appropriate.
These partnerships strengthen cognitive, emotional, and physical recovery for our residents.
